Our goal is to own and breed healthy Golden Retrievers that are representative of the breed standard, especially in temperament and soundness. Whether for show, obedience, fieldwork, therapy or any of the many other venues, a Golden is first and foremost a companion. We want the relationship to be rewarding for both owner and dog and to last for as long as possible.
We are breeders/owners/handlers. We take great joy in the training, conditioning and caring for our Goldens. What we get back in return is the love and loyalty of a friend that cannot be measured.
We only have a small number of dogs at any one time. All of our dogs live (and sleep) with us, so we like to keep the number manageable, assuring that each of our dogs gets individual attention.
We make every effort to title our dogs in both Conformation and Hunt Tests. We participate in American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC) and Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) events.
We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA), the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC), the Sporting Dog Club of British Columbia, the Port Ludlow Kennel Club, Project Canine (therapy dogs) and Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.). Scott is the past Western Regional Director for the Golden Retriever Club of America. He is a Licensed AA Started Judge for HRC hunt tests and past Vice President for the Olympic Rainshadow Hunting Retriever Club.
We work to preserve the history of the Golden Retriever by ensuring we are diligent in our efforts to study the dogs of the past to make thoughtful, educated decisions for breeding dogs for the future of the breed. The first sentence of the breed standard states the Golden Retriever should be “sound and well put together” and should display “a kindly expression and possess a personality that is eager, alert and self-confident.” We do our best to ensure Soundview Goldens fit this description.
